Why Do People Think Dead People Are Stupid
This is something that does get on my nerves quite a lot of the time and it is of course how deaf people are treated differently to the normal people of the world and I have seen this countless times. The worst instance in which I hav e seen this kind of thing happening is when I was in hospital visiting a friend. I knew she was deaf because I had spoken to her before which meant that I also knew how intelligent this lady was as well. I cannot even believe to imagine how annoying it must be for the person as I was getting annoyed myself. Yes I can understand that people perhaps need to raise their voiced for the sound to get through the hearing aid but there is no need to talk to her like she is an idiot.
This is most certainly not the only ever case I have sen happening. Are these people stupuid themselves or is there actually a reason behind it?
Well more often than not people do just not understand what it is like to be deaf and often think that just because someone is deaf it means they are dumb too and this is so not the case. I cannot imagine how it must feel when someone is deaf and they are getting treated like they are a fool.
So the main thing to remember is that unless you know for a fact that the deaf person you are talking to is also suffering from a mental condition there is no way that you should be talking to them like they are stupid.
